Covid-19: the employee of the concessionaire of the second Penang bridge tests positive, the office closes due to sanitation

GEORGE TOWN: An employee of Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) tested positive for Covid-19.

Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah dealer said the employee tested positive on Thursday (February 25) and is currently receiving medical care at a government hospital.

JKSB said the employee is not in a customer-facing role and was last seen in the office on February 24.

“We immediately inform and advise the employee’s immediate family members and individuals who we believe have been in close contact with said employee in the past 14 days to undergo Covid-19 testing.

“They have been advised to observe home quarantine pending the outcome of such a test,” the statement said.

The statement said that in accordance with Health Ministry guidelines to contain the risk of infection, the operations office in Batu Kawan will be temporarily closed on February 26 and 27 for detailed disinfection and sanitation processes.

The statement added that contact tracing, self-quarantine and detection procedures have also been initiated for staff members who may have been in close contact with the affected employee.

JKSB said it will continue to take other necessary steps as long as they are required, as the safety of its employees and members of the public is of the utmost importance to them.

JKSB also assured that its services will not be affected and will continue to operate as usual.
