PETALING JAYA: The Petaling District Health Department will continue to test all residents of Pelangi Damansara Flats in Persiaran Surian for Covid-19 after 23 people tested positive for the virus.
Petaling District Disaster Management Committee Chairman Johary Anuar said the tests began on October 21 and continued until Thursday (October 22) involving residents in Block B.
“They told me that residents of Block B completed the test. The residents of the other blocks will also go through the test. It is crucial to screen everyone who lives in the high-altitude area, as 23 positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected, ”he said.
Johary added that Covid-19 test results on Pelangi Damansara residents will take four to five days.
The Pelangi Damansara Flats area is divided into two electoral districts.
Blocks A, B, C, G, I and J are under the general assembly of Bukit Lanjan, Elizabeth Wong, while blocks D, E, F and H are under the command of Assemblyman of Bandar Utama, Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
When contacted by Wong, he confirmed that testing had started since October 21, adding that there are about 1,000 flat units in the complex.
“It will take a long time, but this test should be done for the well-being of people, especially those with symptoms,” he said.
Johary advised residents to follow strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to stop the disease.
Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police officers have relied on Pelangi Damansara Flats to facilitate Covid-19 testing.
“Our men will make sure people comply with Covid-19 SOPs that require physical distancing. We need people to comply, “he added.
Medical staff had questioned most of the residents to determine a person’s risk of contracting Covid-19.
“Most of them were asked about the symptoms they experience, their whereabouts in recent weeks, and exposure to someone who has been confirmed to have Covid-19,” Johary said.
