COVID-19 | The cemetery is no stranger to grim grief, and today, the Bandar Tasik Puteri Muslim Cemetery, Cheras, became the scene of another heartfelt loss. This time it came from the medical fraternity and from the hand of Covid-19.
It was five minutes before 3 p.m. when a hearse adorned with the Sungai Buloh Hospital on its side entered the cemetery grounds. Just as the driver parked him next to a recently excavated grave, several figures in full protective suits emerged.
“That’s Abah! Abah! Abah! (Father),” shouted a group of children, standing by the cemetery fence about 150 meters away.
One of the men in white raised his hand and greeted his three sons and daughter before turning his attention back to the hearse.
Inside was Artini Dzolkarnaini, his 41-year-old wife and mother of their five children.
Yet that was all the children could to say goodbye to their mother for the last time. Artini was diagnosed with Covid-19 in the middle of last month, before succumbing to medical complications this morning …
