Covid-19 Suspect Rescued After Sixth Floor Hospital Fall

KOTA KINABALU: A man under observation for Covid-19 was rescued after he allegedly jumped from the sixth floor of a hospital here on Saturday night.

The 62-year-old man survived the fall after landing on the roof of the third floor of the hospital around 8 p.m.

The city’s police chief, Habibi Majinji, said early investigations found that the man had been taken into custody at the Likas Women’s and Children’s Hospital here for cancer and also for Covid-19.

He said the man was believed to have been under duress since he was protected several days ago.

“The man suffered serious injuries after the fall. He was rescued by firefighters who arrived at the scene after receiving a call for help, ”said Habibi.

Police will take a statement from the man after his condition improves.

Last month, a woman believed to be a Covid-19 patient died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 here. Health authorities later said the woman was infected.
