This brings the number of active groups across the country to 190 in total.

In a statement on Friday (December 11), Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the Sungai Putus group was detected from a Covid-19 screening activity conducted at a factory in Klang, Selangor.

“As of December 11, a total of 2,001 people in this group have undergone screening and 427 positive cases have been confirmed.

“The cases include 418 foreigners and nine Malaysians,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

The Erima group in Gombak, Selangor was discovered after its index case, a 25-year-old woman, developed symptoms and then tested positive for Covid-19 on December 7.

“After the case, the employer organized a Covid-19 assessment on the workers and close contacts of the index case.

“This led to the discovery of 28 more positive cases in the group, after 83 people had been tested,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

The Tapak Bina Jalan Berangan, which is linked to a construction site in Kuala Lumpur, was detected after a mass inspection of workers.

As of December 11, a total of 1,246 people had been screened and six have tested positive so far.

In Johor, the new Langkasuka cluster is also linked to a workplace and 14 positive cases have been detected so far.

Another new group, called the Jalan College group, originated from a 53-year-old woman in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, who developed symptoms and subsequently tested positive on December 3.

After testing 35 family and social contacts, another 10 positive cases were found in Seremban and Petaling in Selangor.

The sixth new group, called the Sungai Keluang group, involves a workplace in Penang.

The index case tested positive for Covid-19 on December 5 from a test conducted on travelers arriving in Malaysia.
