PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded six more deaths from Covid-19 on Friday (October 9), bringing the total deaths from the disease to 152 cases.
All six deaths were detected in Sabah, so 11 deaths were reported in the state over the past two days.
In a live press conference broadcast from home quarantine, Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the country’s death rate from Covid-19 is now 1.03% of the total number of cases. .
Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau Hospital, and Semporna Hospital reported two deaths each. They are all Malaysians.
At Queen Elizabeth Hospital, one of the deaths was a 66-year-old woman with diabetes, high blood pressure and pulmonary tuberculosis.
The other is a 64-year-old man with a history of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
In Semporna, the fatal cases involved a 68-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman. The woman had a history of high blood pressure.
Tawau’s death cases involved a 54-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman. The former is said to have a history of asthma and high blood pressure.
“The Ministry of Health wishes to convey our condolences to the families of the victims,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.
