KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) yesterday tightened travel conditions for those who wanted to enter the state after the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah.
Senior Deputy Minister I and State SDMC Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Sarawak residents, permanent residents and state visa holders planning to return to the state via Sabah and Labuan should fill in their details in line in EnterSarawak.
“They will be subject to a Home Surveillance Order (HSO) for 14 days, to wear a bracelet and undergo a rapid polymerase chain reaction test (rT-PCR) upon arrival at the airport or on the second or tenth day.
“The cost will be borne by the state government,” he said today at a press conference here.
Uggah said that for those who underwent the rT-PCR test three days before their travel date and the results were negative, they will need to undergo a swab test only on the 10th day and the cost will be borne by the state government.
“For airport transit procedures, all passengers from Sabah and Labuan cannot leave the departure lounge and the HSO quarantine order will be issued at the first point of entry and asked to wear a bracelet.
“For those with a final destination in the interior of Sarawak and who live quite far from the health clinics, they will be quarantined in hotels or designated centers,” Uggah said.
Meanwhile, Malays from the mainland, Sabah or Labuan and foreigners entering Sarawak through Sabah or Labuan must complete the EnterSarawak form and attach the Covid-19 swab test results prior to travel date for their approval.
“They will only be issued a five-day entry pass and they will have to attach the return ticket.
“Those who do not attach valid rT-PCR test results at least three days prior to the travel date will not be allowed to enter the state,” he said.Called
