Covid-19 (November 20): 958 new cases, two victims in their 30s

COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 958 new cases of Covid-19 today at noon today and three deaths.

Sabah reported the highest number of new cases (53.4 percent) followed by the Klang Valley region (29.9 percent) and Negeri Sembilan (16 percent).

Just over two-thirds of the new cases in Sabah were from close contacts and a single group (Sabaru).

The details of the new cluster cases in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan will be updated when available.

Main indicators:

  • active cases – 13.221 ↓ (one less than the previous day)
  • Intensive care patients – 110 (no change)
  • Intubated patients – 42 ↑ (5 more than the previous day)

Three deaths were reported in Sabah today, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths in the territory to 186, or 56.53 percent of the national total (329).

The youngest of the three victims was a 32-year-old Malaysian woman who passed away at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Based on her case number (39,871), she was likely diagnosed between November 7 and 8.

The other two victims, a 39-year-old Malaysian man and a 64-year-old foreigner, died at Tawau Hospital. Both were more recently diagnosed and both had comorbidity.

Regarding the tests, yesterday 62 laboratories had the capacity to process 59,485 RT-PCR tests of which 26,661 or 45 percent of their capacity were carried out.

In Sabah alone, three labs conducted 3,960 tests, representing an overcapacity of 144 percent.

The Ministry of Health does not publish test data for other regions.
