KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied issuing citations for not wearing gloves when enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19, as claimed yesterday on social media.
Police Deputy Inspector General Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that so far, the National Security Council (MKN) has not issued any SOPs requiring the wearing of gloves to slow the spread of the virus.
“PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) only enforces the rules stipulated in the MKN SOPs.
“If there is any confusion, please consult the duty officer in the Malaysian Control Center, Bukit Aman, for confirmation,” he told Bernama today.
Acryl Sani said wearing gloves is not mandatory, but curbing the spread of Covid-19 is encouraged.
Yesterday, a Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures enforcement operation led by Putrajaya Police Chief ACP Mohd Fadzil Ali in federal territory went viral on social media.
It also showed that a worker at a certain location received a citation during the operation and irresponsible netizens had claimed that she was cited for not wearing gloves.
Media reported today that a supermarket worker in Precinct 8 Putrajaya was cited for not complying with SOPs, and not for refusing to wear gloves as claimed on social media -Called
