KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A total of 475 medical and public health personnel from various categories and service schemes have been deployed to various districts of Sabah as of Saturday (October 10), says Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the Ministry of Health (MoH) has mobilized relief teams to Tawau, Lahad Datu, Semporna and Kota Kinabalu to deal with the spread of Covid-19 infections and the mobilization has taken place in stages since the cases began. to increase there.

He said that the human resource needs assessment would be carried out continuously to help control Covid-19 transmissions in Sabah, as well as to ensure the continuity of health services in the affected districts.

“The welfare of all health and medical personnel, an important asset for the Ministry of Health, will continue to be prioritized to ensure that they can perform their duties well.

On the government’s plan to activate the Malaysian Armed Forces Field Hospital (ATM) in Tawau to treat other cases in addition to Covid-19, Dr. Noor Hisham said the hospital would provide obstetric and gynecology, pediatric and General Surgery.

“This will give Tawau Hospital more space to treat cases requiring intensive care (categories 3-5), including those derived from nearby districts, particularly Semporna,” he said, adding that category 1 and 2 cases (without mild symptoms and symptoms) will continue to be placed in the Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Center.

He said the ministry’s initial plan would be to put 100 beds in the hospital, adding that assessment on the capacity and need for other facilities would be carried out from time to time. – Bernama
