REMBAU (Bernama): The National Vaccination Plan scheduled to begin in February will be finalized this Thursday (January 7), says the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said this will be discussed at the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Committee meeting that will be jointly chaired by him and Health Minister Datuk Seri, Dr. Adham Baba.

“Our goal is to launch the implementation plan when we have procured supplies of the Covid-19 vaccine,” he told reporters after the Rembau Umno delegates meeting on Sunday (January 3).

He said it was a comprehensive plan that would cover the period leading up to the receipt of the vaccines, including the hospitals that can register to have access to the vaccine, as well as the transportation and storage of the vaccines.

Meanwhile, he said that his Ministry was also drafting a Low Contact Economy Plan in collaboration with various other ministries, including the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to avoid the risk of the public contracting Covid-19.

He said that this long-term plan, which would bring about changes in the economic environment, would focus on the development and use of robotics, which would eliminate the need to touch surfaces.

“People will no longer have to meet in crowded places and close contacts will be reduced,” he said, adding that these measures would help reduce the number of Covid-19 cases. – Bernama
