KOTA KINABALU: The mass detection of Covid-19 was carried out in the Menggatal temporary detention center, says Datuk Masidi Manjun.

The state’s housing and local government minister said the projections were carried out on Wednesday (December 9) and Thursday (December 10). Results are expected to be available on Friday (December 11).

Masidi said the result is expected to contribute to an increase in positive cases in the state capital.

“The results of the mass examinations are scheduled to come out tomorrow and you can see higher statistics of cases arising in Kota Kinabalu,” he said in a statement.

Kota Kinabalu registered 67 new positive cases Thursday out of a total of 274 new cases statewide.

Two deaths were recorded, one in Keningau and one in Sandakan.

The accumulated cases in Sabah amount to 31,534, where 28,690 have been recovered.

Currently 1,857 patients are receiving treatment, 640 in hospitals and 1,217 in low-risk quarantine and treatment centers across the state.

To date, 289,331 food baskets have been distributed to target groups.
