Covid-19: Malaysian man among seven imported cases in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Nov.8 (Bernama): Singapore’s Ministry of Health confirmed that one of seven imported Covid-19 cases announced on Saturday was a 36-year-old Malaysian man.

Labeled as case 58239, he is a holder of a work permit that came from Malaysia.

He was among the five who were asymptomatic and were detected by the ministry’s proactive assessment and surveillance, while two others were symptomatic.

All imported cases had already been placed on the Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore, the ministry said in its full data released Saturday night.

Singapore reported seven new cases yesterday with no new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection, bringing the total count to 58,054.

Singapore has so far classified 1,283 of the reported cases as imported, 2,270 as community cases and 54,501 involving dormitory residents.

As for Saturday, one group, Westlite Toh Guan Dormitory of 18 Toh Guan Road East, was closed as there were no more cases during the last two 28-day incubation periods.

In all, 57,968 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 34 confirmed cases that are still in the hospital and none of the patients are in the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, 24 patients who have mild symptoms or are clinically well, but still tested positive for Covid-19, have been isolated and cared for in community facilities.
