KUCHING (Oct 9): Lubok Antu is now a yellow zone for Covid-19 after three positive cases were reported today, said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

“After a case of local transmission was reported in Lubok Antu, the district changed its status from green to yellow. Kuching remains a yellow zone as four cases of local transmission have been reported in the last 14 days, ”he said today at a press conference here.

He added that Kuching, Bintulu, Sibu and Lawas were also classified as yellow zones, while 35 other districts in the state remained green zones.

Uggah said that Lawas had recorded three cases of local transmission, while Sibu had two cases of local transmission and Bintulu had one case of infection in the last 14 days.

He said that the Bah Arnab group, which was detected in Kuching, remained the only active group in the state involving four cases.

He said that no new case recovered and discharged was registered today, keeping the accumulated number of cases recovered and discharged at 684 or 92.18 percent of total cases.

He said that 10 cases were still being treated in isolation wards, bringing the cumulative number of cases being treated in isolation wards to 39.

Of the 39, he said 24 cases were admitted to Sarawak General Hospital, eight cases to Miri Hospital, four cases to Sibu Hospital and three cases to Bintulu Hospital.

“Currently no case of Covid-19 is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). Today there are no new deaths and the accumulated number of deaths is 19 cases or 2.56 percent of all cases, “he added.

Uggah said that 22 cases of persons under investigation (PUI) were reported today, with three of them awaiting the results of laboratory tests.

He said police had arrested two local men for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) while undergoing quarantine at a hotel in Miri.

He added that the police had also issued 16 composite notices to people who did not comply with the SOP. Of the total, seven were broadcast in Miri, four in Kuching and Kota Samarahan and one in Betong.
