Covid-19: Four new positive cases registered in S’wak

KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded four new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19), said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He said that of these four cases, two involved Kuching health workers, while the other two were from Tebedu.

With these two cases involving health workers, this brings the cumulative total of positive cases among health workers in Sarawak to 68, where 22 cases are from the Kuching Conference group and 46 cases are from other smaller groups. .

Uggah, who is also chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), said that to date, the state has registered a total of 542 positive cases.

Meanwhile, he said the total number of active cases in Sarawak that are still being treated in hospitals is 175, of which three are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and three others require respiratory assistance.

“Sarawak also registered 17 positive cases, of which eight were admitted to Sarawak General Hospital, seven to Sibu Hospital and two to Bintulu Hospital,” he said.

Uggah noted that 16 cases had been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 350 cases.

Regarding the Person Under Investigation (PUI) cases, he said that Sarawak registered 40 new cases, of which 20 are still pending the results of his laboratory tests.

The state also recorded a total of 3,526 People under Surveillance (PUS) cases, where 2,273 were reported in Kuching, Miri (612), Bintulu (174), Limbang (216), and Sibu (251).
