PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health detected four new Covid-19 clusters on Thursday (Dec 3), of which three are in Sabah and one in Selangor, says Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah (Photo).

In a statement, the director general of Health said that with the addition of the new groups, there are now 184 active groups spread across the country.

The Selangor group, called the Monzón group, is based in the Petaling district.

“The Monzón group’s index case tested positive for Covid-19 on November 29 through an examination performed on symptomatic individuals,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

Through contact tracing activities, the ministry found a total of 19 cases linked to this group.

Two more of the new conglomerates have been detected in the Lahad Datu district.

One of them, dubbed the Jalan Kilang group, was discovered from an examination of factory workers on November 15.

“As of December 3, a total of 104 people with 24 confirmed cases linked to this group had been screened,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

The Perdana Enam conglomerate in Lahad Datu is linked to 25 cases after 213 people were tested.

The fourth group is known as the Jalan Kubota group and involves the Tawau district.

“The index case of the Jalan Kubota group tested positive for Covid-19 on November 25, through a screening test performed on people with symptoms.

“So far, 72 people related to the group have been tested, and 14 have tested positive for Covid-19,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.
