Covid-19: five new clusters identified

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has identified five new Covid-19 clusters, involving the states of Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

Tan Sri Chief Health Officer Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this at a press conference on Thursday (Nov 5).

One of the five new groups is the Sutera group involving the Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah, where the index case tested positive as a result of individual screening tests conducted on November 2.

As of Thursday, he has 15 people who tested positive, six tested negative, and 11 are still pending results.

The Ria-30 group focuses on the Tuaran district of Sabah, where the index case was positive as a result of the community assessment conducted on November 2.

So far, the group has 11 people who have tested positive, 121 have tested negative, and 122 are still waiting for the results.

Meanwhile, the Tamar group involves the Petaling district in Selangor, where the index case was positive as a result of individual screening tests carried out on November 1.

The group has 10 individuals who tested positive, 57 tested negative, and 70 are still awaiting the results.

Danau’s group, which involves Titiwangsa’s group in Kuala Lumpur, was discovered when the index case tested positive as a result of individual screening tests conducted on October 27.

Currently, the group has eight people who have tested positive, with 40 testing negative and 34 awaiting results.

Finally, there is the Intan group that involves the Timur Laut district in Penang, where the index case, a non-Malaysian, tested positive on a screening test taken before returning to the country of origin.

As of Thursday, the group has nine people who have tested positive, 35 have tested negative and 54 are awaiting results.
