PETALING JAYA: Eight new conglomerates have been detected in the country, three of them in Sabah, says Health Director General Tan Sri, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The other new groups were one in Putrajaya-Selangor, Kuala Lumpur-Selangor, Penang, Sarawak, and Johor-Melaka.
Dr. Noor Hisham said that the new groups in Sabah were the Sabaru group in Lahad Datu, the Tomher group in Ranau and the Garden group in Tawau.
The index case in the Sabaru group was identified from a symptomatic individual examination on November 3, he added.
A total of 1,627 people from this group have been tested, where 88 tested positive, 22 tested negative, and another 1,517 were still awaiting their results.
Dr. Noor Hisham said that in Tomher’s group, a high risk assessment of construction workers has been conducted since 9 November.
A total of 276 individuals have been tested in this group, where 20 tested positive, six tested negative, and another 250 were still awaiting their results.
In the Garden group, the index case was detected from an individual symptomatic evaluation on November 7, and a total of 35 people were analyzed here.
Of the 35 people, 11 tested positive and 24 tested negative, he added.
Dr Noor Hisham said that the Putra-18 cluster, which was detected in Putrajaya, as well as in Petaling and Sepang in Selangor, was detected from a symptomatic individual examination on November 14.
A total of 52 people in this group have been tested, of which seven tested positive and another 45 were still awaiting their results.
Dr Noor Hisham said Murni’s new group was detected in Cheras and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, as well as in Petaling, Selangor.
“The index case in this group was detected from a symptomatic individual examination on November 15,” he told a news conference on Wednesday (November 18).
He added that a total of 17 people have been examined, in which seven tested positive, eight tested negative while two others were still waiting for their results.
Dr. Noor Hisham said the new Penang cluster was detected in the eastern part of the state.
“The cluster’s index case was detected from a symptomatic individual examination on November 11.
“A total of 24 individuals have been detected, of which 11 tested positive and another 13 were still awaiting the results,” he said.
Dr. Noor Hisham said that the new group in Besi Demak was detected in Kuching, Sarawak, and the index case tested positive during a symptomatic individual screening test on November 15.
A total of 237 people have been tested in this group, where five tested positive, 22 tested negative, and another 12 were still awaiting their results.
He added that a new group detected in Tangkak, Johor and in Melaka Tengah, Melaka, is known as the Parit Kassan group.
The index case here tested positive during a symptomatic individual examination on November 13.
“A total of 105 people have been tested, of which 11 tested positive, 70 tested negative and another 24 are still awaiting their results,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Noor Hisham said that three groups also finished: the Kencana, Bah Sintok and Seri Anggerik groups.
