PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health has detected eight new Covid-19 clusters in the country, seven of them categorized as outbreaks in the workplace.

In his daily Covid-19 updates, Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that three of the workplace clusters involved educational institutions.

One of them is the Persiaran Maktab group in Selangor, which focuses on an educational center in Taman Cuepacs on Hulu Langat.

“The index case was found to be positive for Covid-19 on March 23 after developing symptoms.

“The group now has seven confirmed cases, after 45 people had to be screened for Covid-19,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

Paloh Rambai’s group in Kelantan involved students and staff from various educational centers in Kota Baru.

“The group’s name refers to Lorong Paloh-Rambai in Ketereh, which is the locality where the index case resides.

“So far 347 people have been examined and 20 cases have been detected in this group,” said Dr. Noor Hisham on Thursday (March 25).

The Merinding group in Labuan involves an educational center in Jalan Kampung Merinding on the federal territory.

“The index case in this group had tested positive for Covid-19 on March 22 after developing symptoms.

“A total of 1,010 had been screened and five confirmed Covid-19 infections have been detected,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

One of Thursday’s new groups, the Siasai Tamu group, has been classified as a community outbreak.

Dr. Noor Hisham said the group started from a social gathering at Kampung Siasai Tamu in Kota Belud, Sabah.

“To date, 162 people had to be tested and 11 positive cases have been detected,” he said.

Dr. Noor Hisham said there are 394 active infection clusters nationwide.
