PETALING JAYA: The 0.6% Covid-19 mortality rate means that for every 1,000 people infected with the virus, six may die, an infographic from the Ministry of Health revealed.

The infographic lists statistics related to deaths from Covid-19 as of November 22. There have been 335 deaths of the 54,775 people who have tested positive so far.

Of those who died due to Covid-19 infection, 65% were men and 35% women. Most were 60 or older, representing 64% of the total number of deaths.

The breakdown of the number of deaths by age group is 60-69 (29.9%), 70-79 (20.6%), 50-59 (20%), 80 and over (14%), 40-49 (7.2%), 30-39 (4.5%) and under 30 (3.9%).

About 87% of those who died had at least one underlying health condition, the main one being high blood pressure (61.4%).

It was followed by diabetes (41.3%), heart disease (24.1%), high cholesterol (19.1%), kidney disease (14.9%), lung disease (10.6%), cancer (4, 6%) and liver diseases (1.7%). ).
