Covid-19: assistant pilot with rural air service tests positive

SIBU: An assistant pilot with a rural air service is among the two people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Sarawak.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the patient was an assistant pilot for an airline that operated rural air service in Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.

“The first RT-PRC test they did on December 14 was negative.

“Then, on December 29, he was treated at a private clinic in Miri for a sore throat and then tested positive for the virus,” the committee said.

The patient reportedly went to various food establishments and shopping centers in Miri and had flown to Lawas, Ba’Kelalan and Bario.

The second import case involved a Sarawakian who returned to Miri from Kuala Lumpur on December 27.

He tested positive while in a quarantine center in Miri for 10 days.

The committee said that in the past 24 hours, a patient recovered and was discharged from Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching.

“To date, a total of 1,069 patients or 95.70% have recovered from the virus.
