In Kuching, SDMC said Case 1118 involved a Sarawak man, who had a fever and cough on December 29, and tested positive for Covid-19 on December 31.

He added that the case worked in the telecommunications industry and had sought treatment at a private clinic before undergoing a swab test at a private hospital.

“Case 1119 involved a Sarawak woman who underwent screening on December 31st. The case came into contact with case 1118 and its test result came back positive the same day. “

SDMC said case 1,120 involved a Sarawak man, who underwent a swab test on December 31 after running a fever and cough.

He said the case also had close contact with Case 1118 and that he had been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for medical attention.

According to SDMC, the three cases reported from Meradong had been in close contact with a previous positive case.

“These cases are related to a previous case that tested positive on December 29 and were ordered to quarantine at home after returning from Kuala Lumpur since December 19.

“They took their swab tests on December 30 and their rT-PCR test results came back positive on December 31,” he said.

He said that one of these cases lost his sense of smell on December 28 and another case had cough symptoms on December 31, adding that the remainder was asymptomatic.

All these cases have been guarded at the Sibu Hospital.

SDMC said case 1,124 involved a Chinese national who had a swab test done at a private hospital in Bintulu on December 30.

The case has been working in an iron factory in Samalaju, Bintulu since 2017 and returned to China in March last year.

The case, with 14 other friends, underwent a swab test before returning to China on December 31 and tested positive for the virus the same day. The case complained of a runny nose on December 22, but did not undergo any tests. “

SDMC said that the Bintulu Division Health Office learned of the test result on December 31 and that the case along with 14 other friends were already at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

He said investigations showed the group was taken in a private vehicle to the airport before boarding the plane to Kuala Lumpur.

The case had been referred to the Selangor Health Office for further action and had been sheltered at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Case 1,125 involved a man from Selangor who entered Sarawak through Miri Airport from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on December 27. The case is an official who returned to Banting, Selangor on December 13 for a break.” .

SDMC said the case was ordered to be quarantined at his home as he lived alone. The case took its rT-PCR test on December 29.

SDMC said the case had a fever on December 30 and his test result came back positive on December 31, and he had been referred to Miri Hospital for treatment.

He added that contact tracing is being actively carried out for all these cases.
