Covid-19: 660 new cases, four deaths, bringing death toll to 163

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia confirmed 660 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (Oct 13), the second highest daily number of cases since the outbreak began.

Tan Sri Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that of the 660 cases, 443 cases were recorded in Sabah alone.

Selangor recorded 76 cases, Kedah saw 60 new cases while Penang has 23 cases.

There are two imported cases, from India and Nepal, while the rest are local broadcasts.

Six new conglomerates have been detected with Sabah with four, Selangor and Penang one each.

Malaysia also discharged 350 patients, meaning that the total number of recoveries is 11,372 or a rate of 67.4%.

The total number of active cases in the country has increased to 5,345 cases.

Altogether, the country’s total cases since the outbreak began in January is 16,880.

Currently, 101 people are being treated in intensive care units, and 32 of them require respiratory assistance.

Four deaths were reported, meaning that the death toll from Covid-19 in the country has risen to 163 cases or 1.0% of total cases.

The four deaths are in Sabah, two in Sandakan and one in Semporna and Tawau.

The deceased were between 59 and 84 years old.
