SINGAPORE (Bernama): A total of 66 Malaysians, including 50 pregnant women, were safely transported back by bus from Singapore on Saturday (May 2) via Johor Causeway during the implementation of the control order for Movement (OLS) and Circuit Breaker Measurement In Singapore.

Both controls, to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreaks in the respective countries, had seen cross-border restrictions even though they are only one kilometer apart.

There is no public transport through the Johor and Linkedua Expressway when these two controls are in force and the only option is to walk so that Malaysians who do not have their own vehicles can return to their homes.

“Therefore, it is absolutely impossible for pregnant women, the elderly and children. We, as Malaysians, are obligated to do this good cause,” said Malaysian San Ambulance Secretary Hoo We Tak when he contacted they.

Hoo, who was not burdened by the effort, said this was a second commitment for him and his colleagues here to help with the third transportation case, the first and second being last month.

“This time it is better organized. We also supplied them with drinks, cookies and bread. We were afraid that upon arrival in Johor, the quarantine process would take some time. In fact, we were even able to provide them with seats while we waited. The bus trip right now” Hoo said.

Through the coordination of the San Juan ambulance organizations in Singapore and Malaysia, Hoo said that seven members and an ambulance from the San Juan Response Unit in Singapore offered help and accompanied the group.

Meanwhile, Andrew Chen, Johor’s state assemblyman for Stulang, had collaborated with the Causeway Link bus company to provide a bus for all pregnant women.

Also with the help of the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore, to date some 150 pregnant women have been safely brought home.

“To meet the social distancing requirement, three trips with 22 passengers were organized today at the same time. The first trip started at 10am, the second at 11.30am and the last at 1pm. They boarded the bus in Kranji MRT, “said Hoo .- Bernama
