PETALING JAYA: Malaysia reported another 3,318 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday (Feb 12), the Health Ministry said.
The country has now registered 258,306 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic last year.
An additional 17 people have succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll from Covid-19 in Malaysia to 953.
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that of the new cases, seven were imported and the rest were local broadcasts.
“50.5% of local broadcasts involve Malaysian citizens, while 49.5% involve non-citizens,” he said.
Dr. Noor Hisham added that 3,505 Covid-19 patients have been recovered, bringing total recoveries to 205,774.
There are currently 51,579 active cases in the country, 258 are being treated in intensive care units and 119 need respiratory assistance.
