KUCHING (Nov 7): Sarawak registered 25 new Covid-19 cases today, all in the Kuching district, said Senior Deputy Minister and Chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
This brought the total number of positive cases in the state to 985.
According to a statement from SDMC, nine of the new cases were detected in the Green Hill group, seven in the Wisma Saberkas group, two in the Seladah group and one in the Baki group.
The rest of the cases were detected from private health examinations (4) and one local who did the test before undergoing an operation, while the other was an Indonesian pilot who underwent a test before returning to his home. country of origin.
Uggah reported that Case 973 is a local man who was examined a second time on November 5 due to having close contact with a positive case previously identified as Case 871.
“This case has no signs or symptoms of Covid-19 infection. The case was examined on October 31 and tested negative for the Covid-19 rT-PCR test. The case also has no history of travel abroad or visits to high-risk areas in the country in the last three months.
“The case was admitted to the isolation ward of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment. This case is related to the Baki group in the Lundu district and is categorized as Import Case C, ”he said at a press conference on the Covid-19 updates.
According to Uggah, a total of nine new cases were detected through contact tracing at Green Hill Cluster.
“All of them are local citizens between the ages of 20 and 68 with a history of close contact with positive cases involving the Green Hill Cluster,” he said.
They consist of five female and four male cases. Case 969 is a friend and close contact with Case 824; Case 970 is a friend and close contact with Case 816; Case 971 is a domestic help for case 818; cases 972 and 981 were social contacts with case 818; case 974 is a friend and close contact with case 823; Case 978 is a friend and close contact with Case 843; Case 979 is a contact with case 872; and case 982 is brother and close contact with case 841.
Six of the cases were detected by the rT-PCR test a second time in a government health clinic, while one case was detected by a second detection in a private medical laboratory; and one was detected by a first examination at a government health clinic. All rT-PCR smear tests were performed on November 5 and 6.
All cases showed no signs and symptoms of Covid-19 infection. They have been admitted to SGH for further treatment and are classified as locally transmitted cases.
Uggah reported that Wisma Saberkas Cluster had a total of seven new cases.
“Six cases were detected through contact tracing of previously reported positive cases. One case was detected through private self-assessment.
“All of them were screened for Covid-19 on November 4-5 at government health clinics and tested positive on November 6,” he said.
The seven cases are local citizens consisting of four men and three men between the ages of 17 and 65.
Cases 961 and 964 of each parent and close friend of Case 934; Case 962 is the mother and a close contact with Case 932; Cases 965, 966 and 967 are friends and relatives of case 933; and case 976 is a woman who has a history of frequent visits to Wisma Seberkas for shopping before the group came out.
All cases do not show any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 infection and these cases have been admitted for further treatment with SGH. They are also classified as cases of local transmission.
The Seladah Cluster registered two new cases, both of which were detected through repeated examinations after having close contact with previously reported positive cases. Both cases underwent the first detection on October 26 and 28, respectively, and were negative for the rT-PCR Covid-19 test.
Case 968 is a family member and close contact with Case 711 and had undergone a second evaluation on November 5. Case 977 is an eight-year-old boy who is the child and close contact with Case 795.
Both cases have no signs or symptoms, and neither have a history of travel abroad or high-risk areas in the country in the last three months. They have been admitted to SGH for further treatment and are classified as locally transmitted cases.
Case 963 is a middle-aged citizen who was instructed to undergo a Covid-19 screening test prior to surgery. She had been screened at a government health clinic on November 4 and tested positive on November 6. She has no signs or symptoms of Covid-19 infection and has been admitted to SGH for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Uggah reported that there were five recovery cases and discharge for the day, from SGH.
“As of today, 812 or 82.44 percent of all cases have been recovered and discharged.
“A total of 154 cases continue to be treated in the isolation rooms of the hospitals. Of that total, 125 cases are being treated at SGH, 25 cases at Miri Hospital, two at Bintulu Hospital and two at Sibu Hospital, ”he said.
There were no cases under treatment in intensive care units.
There are currently 47 new cases of people under investigation, and six are still awaiting laboratory results.
This brings the cumulative total of PUIs to 10,320 to date.
As for the person under surveillance (PUS), there are 154 people who have checked into hotels for their mandatory quarantine on Saturday. This brings the current PUS total to 2,272 people at 26 hotels statewide.
To date, those who have completed their quarantine period number 29,914.
With no reported deaths, the death toll in the state remains at 19 or 1.93 percent of all cases.
