Covid-19: 20 new cases bring a total to 10,167, a new death

PETALING JAYA: The country recorded 20 additional cases of Covid-19, with 51 recoveries.

Tan Sri Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement on Saturday (September 19), said that of the 20 recently reported cases, three were imported.

“Of the 17 local broadcasts, 14 were from Malaysia. Kedah recorded nine cases, with eight from the Sungai group.

“Sabah recorded eight cases, one of a group recently discovered in Semporna,” he said.

This puts the total number of Covid-19 cases at 10,167, with 722 active cases.

The country also recorded one additional death, an 82-year-old man.

“He experienced symptoms of fever on September 4, but received no treatment. On September 7, it was discovered that he was a close contact for case 9,458 and case 9,547 (Sungai group).

“He was admitted to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah on September 9, but his condition worsened and he was transferred to the intensive care ward. The patient passed away on September 18 at 5.45 pm,” he said.
