KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded two new locally transmitted positive Covid-19 cases in the Kuching district, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 772, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said.
Case 771 is a local cake vendor who tested positive for the disease after undergoing a self-assessment at a private hospital here on October 22, after complaining of difficulty sleeping.
The man has no foreign travel history and has not been to high-risk areas for Covid-19, nor has he been in contact with any other positive cases.
Case 772 is a woman, a Chinese citizen who underwent an examination in a private hospital here because she needed to fly back to China.
She went to the test on October 22 and tested positive for Covid-19 the same day. She was asymptomatic.
The woman has no history of traveling abroad nor has she visited high-risk areas for Covid-19.
The source of infection for both cases is still under investigation and has been classified as local infections for now.
Meanwhile, the Lubok Antu district today has been declared a green zone as it joins 37 other districts in the state after no new cases were reported from the district for the past 14 days.
The districts of Kuching and Bintulu remain as yellow zones.
In addition, today there have been three recovery cases in the state, one from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and two from Bintulu Hospital.
In total, 721 cases or 93.39 percent of all cases in the state have recovered from Covid-19 to date.
The remaining 32 cases are still being treated in hospitals, of which 20 are at SGH, seven at Miri Hospital and five at Bintulu Hospital.
No cases are being treated in intensive care units (ICU) at this time. Sarawak’s death toll remains unchanged at 19 or 2.46 percent.
There are currently two groups active in the state: the ‘Bah Arnab’ group in Kuching district with 12 cases and the Putra group in Bintulu district with six cases.
