However, Tan Sri Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of recoveries is higher than new cases, with 1,552 patients discharged in the last 24 hours.
In total, 56,311 patients or 83.8% have recovered from Covid-19 in the country and active cases have dropped to 10,495.
Dr. Noor Hisham also said that in the last week, states have shown a more stable number in reported cases.
“A large number of the reported cases are from construction sites and factories. These high numbers are the result of active case detection and selection of close contacts, ”he said in a statement Tuesday.
The Teratai cluster is also responsible for 87.3% of the 891 cases reported in Selangor.
As of November 7, a total of 6,603 people have been tested in the group, with 5,056 testing positive: 331 (6.5%) are Malaysians while 4,725 (93.5%) are non-citizens.
A total of 1,501 people tested negative, while 46 others are still awaiting test results, said Dr. Noor Hisham.
He added that the ministry welcomed the move to extend the improved MCO in workers’ bedrooms from Tuesday to December 14.
“The employer was ordered to halt all its operations and close its factories in stages, as well as to test all its workers,” he said, adding that health workers were moved to the area to help slow the spread of the disease.
In addition to the 891 cases in Selangor, 267 cases were reported in Sabah, 146 in Negri Sembilan, Johor (68), Penang (29), Kuala Lumpur (26), Kedah (21), Perak (13), Kelantan (10) , and one in Sarawak.
Dr. Noor Hisham also said there were three new deaths in Sabah, bringing the country’s death toll to 363.
