Covid-19: 14 new clusters detected, 12 linked to workplaces

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry discovered 14 new Covid-19 clusters on Thursday, bringing total assets in the country to 490.

One of the new conglomerates, dubbed the Tapak Bina Queens Waterfront conglomerate, is an outbreak detected among construction workers in Penang.

Tan Sri Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said 145 confirmed cases have been found in this group since February 26.

“A total of 709 workers in this group had undergone a screening exercise, of which 145 tested positive for Covid-19,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in his statement on Thursday (March 4).

Of the 14 new clusters, 12 were linked to workplaces in Selangor (five), Johor (four), Penang (two) and Negri Sembilan (one).

A group in Johor, called the Jalan Limau Manis group, is linked to a funeral in Kluang.

His index case is that of a 26-year-old woman who developed symptoms and then tested positive for the virus on Thursday.

At least 49 of his family contacts had been tested for Covid-19, and 12 more cases were found.
