KUCHING (November 11): Sarawak today registered 14 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, all in Kuching, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed in a statement.
This brings the total number of positive cases in the state to 1,011.
There are 12 cases that have been evaluated by having close contact with the positive cases that have been previously reported.
Ten people have been screened at government health facilities, one underwent screening at a private hospital, and another case underwent Covid-19 screening at a medical laboratory.
Among these 12 cases are a seven-month-old girl and an Indonesian maid.
Five of the cases are those who had close contacts with the Green Hill Cluster cases, while three were close contacts of those in Wisma Saberkas Cluster.
All cases have been admitted to the isolation ward of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment. Contact tracing is underway for all these cases.
Meanwhile, separated from the groups, a positive case is that of a local citizen who underwent a self-assessment at a government health clinic on November 9 for fear of coming into contact with unknown positive cases.
The case is an employee of an automobile battery distribution company in Kuching City. The case showed no signs or symptoms of Covid-19 infection and also has no history of travel abroad or visits to high-risk areas of infection in the country. The case has been admitted to SGH for further treatment.
The case is still being investigated and the search for contacts is being actively carried out.
Another case is that of a local citizen who underwent a Covid-19 test after contracting a cough and fever on November 10 at a government health clinic.
The case shows no signs and symptoms of a Covid-19 infection, and also has no history of traveling abroad or visiting high-risk areas of infection in the country and has been admitted to SGH for further treatment. The case is still being investigated and the search for contacts is also being actively carried out.
Meanwhile, SDMC reported that there were 20 cases of recoveries and discharges for the day, of which 12 are from SGH, six from Miri Hospital and two from Bintulu Hospital.
“To date, 860 or 85.06 percent of the total cases have recovered and have been discharged.
“A total of 132 cases continue to be treated in the isolation rooms of the hospitals. Of that, 111 cases are being treated at SGH and 21 cases at Miri Hospital, ”he said.
There were no cases under treatment in intensive care units.
As for the persons under investigation (PUI), there were 26 new cases, six of which are still awaiting the results of laboratory tests.
This brings the cumulative total of PUI to 10,405 to date.
For people under surveillance (PUS), there are 88 people who have checked into hotels for their mandatory quarantine today. This brings the current PUS total to 2,325 people at 29 hotels statewide.
To date, those who have completed their quarantine period number 30,692.
With no reported deaths, the death toll in the state remains unchanged at 19 or 1.88 percent of all cases.
