PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health has detected 13 new Covid-19 clusters, bringing the total number of active clusters across the country to 451.
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said 11 of the new groups were infections discovered at workplaces in Selangor (four groups), Johor (four), Kuala Lumpur (one), Sabah (one ) and Terengganu (one).
One of them is the Jalan Cyber Lima cluster in Kulai, Johor, which has 101 positive cases linked to it.
“The Covid-19 cases found in this group have been discovered from a screening exercise at a Jalan Cyber 5 factory, Kulai.
“As of February 8, a total of 150 people have been tested, 101 of them tested positive,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement on Monday (February 8).
The other two groups that are not related to the workplace are the outbreaks detected in a Sarawak village and a medical center in Negri Sembilan.
Sebangkoi’s group focuses on a village in Undop, Sri Aman, where 23 cases have been confirmed.
A massive test involving 447 people was conducted after a 59-year-old woman from the village developed symptoms on January 21 and tested positive on January 31.
Petaling Taman Bukit’s group, which has 16 confirmed cases, is linked to a medical center in Kuala Klawang, Negri Sembilan.
His index case is a 42-year-old man who developed symptoms on January 26 and tested positive on February 4.
Dr. Noor Hisham said 187 people linked to the group have been examined so far.
