PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health identified eleven new Covid-19 clusters in the country on Saturday (December 26), including at a construction site in Kuala Lumpur, two factories in Selangor, and a shopping center in Kuantan, Pahang.
Chief Health Officer Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah (Photo) He said that among the groups is the group Tapak Bina Jalan Seng, which had registered a total of 232 new cases of Covid-19 there.
“This group involves the Titiwangsa district in Kuala Lumpur. The cases in this group had started on December 25.
“As of December 26, a total of 407 people had been tested, of which 232 had been confirmed positive in this group,” he said.
Another is the Plastik Subang group, which recorded a total of 111 Covid-19 cases, he said.
“For this conglomerate, it is the Petaling and Klang district of Selangor. A total of 345 people were tested and 111 tested positive,” he added.
Dr. Noor Hisham also noted that Jalan Asam’s group had registered a total of 13 new positive cases.
“This cluster involves Petaling and Klang district in Selangor. Positive cases for this cluster started on December 19 through a factory screening,” he said, adding that 713 individuals were tested in the cluster.
For Semambu’s group, he said it involves Kuantan district, Pahang, where the index case was working in a shopping mall and tested positive on December 17.
“A total of 47 people were tested and 11 tested positive,” added Dr. Noor Hisham.
The other two new groups were found in Kelantan, which had been identified as the Halban group and the Seragam Chepa group.
Dr. Noor Hisham also announced that 268 clusters have been declared closed, after registering zero cases for 28 days in a row.
Currently, there are 215 active groups across the country.
