Covid-19: 1,012 new cases while Selangor tops the list with 417; four deaths | Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, December 8 – The Ministry of Health reported 1,012 new cases of Covid-19 and four deaths in the last 24 hours.

Health Director Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor had the highest number of new cases with 417, followed by Sabah with 271 cases and Johor with 108 cases.

“The state of Selangor reported the highest number of daily cases today with 417 cases (41.2 percent), followed by the state of Sabah with 271 cases (26.8 percent) and the state of Johor with 108 cases. (10.7 percent), ”he said in a statement tonight.

Dr. Noor Hisham said that four deaths were also reported in Sabah.

“The four deaths involved three local women: a 64-year-old with high blood pressure, a 92-year-old and a 33-year-old, both with various medical backgrounds.

“Another death in Sabah involved a 90-year-old foreigner, who died at Tuaran Hospital,” he said.

Dr. Noor Hisham said that of the total number of cases in Selangor, 115 came from existing conglomerates. A total of 116 cases were from close contact examinations, 185 from other examinations, and one was imported.

Sabah still recorded a significant number of new daily Covid-19 cases at 271, with 70 coming from existing clusters, 121 from close contact examinations, and 80 from Covid-19 exams performed.

On the breakdown of Johor’s new Covid-19 cases, Dr. Noor Hisham said that 63 came from existing clusters, 22 from close contact examinations, and the remaining 23 were from other Covid-19 examinations.

In the 98 new cases from Kuala Lumpur, 48 came from existing groups, including three from the new Tapak Bina Darul group, 12 from close-contact examinations, five imported cases, and the remaining 33 from Covid-19 exams performed.

The remaining states that registered new cases are Pahang (33), Perak (29), Negri Sembilan (23), Penang (18), Kedah (10), Sarawak and Kelantan (two each) and Putrajaya with one case.

He said 126 Covid-19 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), and 62 of them are in need of respiratory support.
