KUCHING (Sept 25): Sarawak registered a new Covid-19 case today, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 704.
In a statement, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported that case 704 was detected in Law because it involved a health worker from the State Department of Health who had undergone the Covid-19 detection test before. to participate in the Public Health Assistance Team to Sabah to help. in the fight against the infection spread there.
The case underwent a Covid-19 screening test at a government health clinic on September 20.
The samples for the test were sent to the Public Health Laboratory in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on the same day and the results of the Covid-19 detection for the rT-PCR test showed that the case was positive on September 25.
The case had a fever and cough on September 1 and 2.
The case has been referred to Miri Hospital for further treatment. Preliminary investigation shows that this case had no foreign travel history, but had visited Kota Kinabalu on July 26 for personal matters and had only spent one night in an apartment there.
The preliminary investigation also indicated that this case is likely to be broadcast locally. A contact tracing is being carried out on the family of the case, work contacts and social contacts.
Meanwhile, SDMC also reported that there were no recovery and discharge cases for the day. To date, 681 or 96.73% of all cases have been recovered and discharged.
“A total of four cases continue to be treated in the isolation rooms of the hospital. They are treated at Sibu Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital in Selangor, SGH and Bintulu Hospital respectively. There is one case, which was reported in Sandakan, Sabah is currently receiving treatment at Bintulu Hospital, ”he said.
In terms of Person Under Investigation (PUI), there were four new ones, bringing the cumulative total of PUIs to 9,705 to date.
As for people under surveillance (PUS), there are 28 people who have checked into hotels for their mandatory quarantine on Saturday. This brings the current PUS total to 613 people at 11 hotels across the state.
To date, those who have completed their quarantine period number 24,504.
With no reported deaths, the death toll in the state stands at 19 or 2.7 percent of all cases.
