KUALA LUMPUR: Police personnel and officers who are directly involved with people arrested in connection with the Macau scam and the online gambling union will be suspended from their duties and dismissed from their service, if there is evidence of their involvement.
Bukit Aman Integrity and Compliance Department (JIPS) director Datuk Zamri Yahya said the police were now in the process of recording statements and gathering evidence regarding the alleged involvement of 24 members of the force with the union.
“Once the investigation is completed, recommendations will be made to the disciplinary board to take action against those involved, such as suspension or termination of service, if there is evidence,” he told Bernama.
Zamri said that the 24 members of the police force who were allegedly involved with the union had been transferred to other units, including the administrative division.
Last Monday, Bernama reported that senior PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) officers were among those who were taken into account on suspicion of having ties to people who were arrested in connection with the Macau scam and the gaming union. of online gambling.
