KUALA LUMPUR: Police issued compounds to 180 people for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO), while another nine were arrested following a raid on a nightclub here.
Performing on a track, a police team raided the nightclub in Jalan Metro Pudu here around 12.15am on Sunday (October 4).
Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, Kuala Lumpur CID chief, senior communications assistant, who led the assault team, said the club’s clients were busy celebrating when police arrived on the scene.
He said police personnel issued compounds to 137 men and 43 women between the ages of 23 and 38 for violating the MCO recovery.
“We consider such violations to be serious and severe action will be taken against those who prosper the MCO of recovery.
“We also seized music equipment and other items from the premises,” said SAC Nik Ros Azhan.
He added that 60 people were tested for urine for drugs, and they all came back negative.
“We detained six men, three locals and three foreigners, who were club workers along with three other men who had tattoos that were insignia of illegal groups.
“We are investigating them further,” he said when contacted on Sunday.
SAC Nik Ros Azhan added that the police will continue to carry out similar operations in the future.
“We are grateful to the public for their cooperation on the matter,” he said.
