Cooperate or not, it’s Umno’s choice

MUAR: It is a right and a choice of Umno if you decide not to cooperate with any political party in the XV General Election (GE15), said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix).

The president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) also said that what was important was that up to now Bersatu, under Perikatan Nasional, had already forged good cooperation with all parties for the good of the people.

“That is Umno’s opinion… if that is her decision, it is her right. If they say they do not want to cooperate with us, it is their choice. If they want to cooperate with us, they also have the right.

“We (Bersatu) have had good cooperation with all parties for a long time and finally formed the current government. The important thing is how we face the future, ”he told reporters after launching the first phase of the Pagoh Special Economic Zone at the Sime Darby Sales Gallery here today.

Muhyiddin explained that what is important now is that the political parties that support the government have established cooperation on the key issues facing the country, such as COVID-19, managing the vaccination program, ensuring that people are safe and healthy, as well as address financial problems.

“I am focused on this issue (compared to political issues), it is not that I cannot be political, it is not that I cannot debate, a large part of my life I have been involved in politics. I can debate with anyone but I avoid it because people will get mad at me. Even responding to this, some will get angry. It’s not that I’m afraid.

“… because people are affected, facing difficulties, without money, without enough food, the economy is still bad … I don’t know why politicians don’t see this as a fight that must be prioritized. It’s not that (parliamentary) seats aren’t important, if you don’t win enough seats, you can’t form a stable government. Okay, if he wants, take the 222 seats … win all the seats, you can form the government.

“… but if he takes them all, I will take them all too. Fighting one on one or one against two can also … that’s politics. As such, I don’t want to show off, be arrogant as people will get mad, ”Muhyiddin said.

Congressman Pagoh does not want the political struggle to divert the attention of the PN government from the main issue, which is the welfare of the people.

Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan had said today at the opening of the Wanita, Youth and Puteri meetings together with the Umno General Assembly that the party would not risk losing any seats in GE15.

He was quoted as saying that Umno’s seats will be Umno’s then, now and forever, adding that the seats would not be left vacant just to give some other party a lifeline and they would not budge on the matter. – Named
