Congratulations to Uncle Kentang for helping the homeless family

YOUR OPINION | “We are a nation of caring people, but not of a caring government.”

Evicted from a rented house, the family sleeps at the R&R stop

Dr. Raman: Congratulations to the Brickfields District Police Headquarters Police Patrol and philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, also known as Uncle Kentang (above).

I don’t think this is an isolated case. The government is announcing millions to help those in need affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Where does the money go?

Either they are not reaching out to those in need, or they are simply ignoring those crying out for help. This family must have done everything they could to get help from the government before taking this drastic step.

For the opposition, this is what you must insist on; Don’t wear a suit in Parliament and keep yelling to overthrow the government. How come your terrestrial network didn’t notice this family on the street?

It is simply not enough to show sympathy and resolve the plight of this family. The government, opposition and charities should reach many more people before they are thrown onto the streets.

Thanks to Malaysiakini for highlighting this issue.

Mohd Bakri 3: The police really know who to call for help. Amazing. Only in Malaysia, huh?

It seems like it’s indeed #rakyatbanturakyat today, with stories about this guy and ustaz Ebit Lew, as our politicians continue to fight for their millions and billions.

Lion King: The rakyat are suffering but not the politicians, as some have three or more pensions and live in luxurious houses, and some with swimming pools.

The rakyat deserved it when we elected these people to the position.

I think, therefore I exist: There is no money in the coffers. Irresponsible politicians stole it, were convicted and imprisoned, but are still at large. Some have escaped with impunity.

So it is up to the rakyat again to rescue the most affected members of the rakyat. People like Uncle Kentang step in when the government won’t or can’t.

We are a nation of supportive people, but not of a supportive government.

Anonymous_15897060865429524: The fact that the police had to call Uncle Kentang, an ordinary independent citizen, rather than any of the many taxpayer-funded government organizations, is very revealing.

RKR: In fact, the police contact Kuan whenever such things happen. The last time was a Malaysian woman with five children abandoned by her husband who lived in his old car at a gas station. She was finally rescued by Kuan.

Where are the Aduns and deputies (elected representatives)? Busy fights in Parliament? Where are God’s people of God’s party?

Coconut: Yes, thanks to Kuan and the police for helping.

What is needed is to get to the bottom of this case. Why did this happened? If it is true that the situation is so bad, then something must be done.

They were on the street for five days and nobody noticed. It’s not really Malay.

Anonymous_3f4b: Kuan ran as an independent in the last election. However, voters prefer to vote for the Pakatan Harapan / BN candidates in their constituency only because of some political hype and promised bounty.

Shovel nose: Regardless of his political leanings, Kuan will be blessed for his work for the underprivileged.

He passed: Can we start a fund for this poor family and for so many people who are going through such difficult times these days?

N Jules: Samm, you don’t need to waste time suggesting a public fundraising effort. Just get started right away among your family members and friends circles.

Gather everything you can and try to get in touch with the family in danger, either through the police or Uncle Kentang.

Samm, I think your intention is sincere. However, typing here is easy but it won’t work. If you really want to help, start with yourself. It will take some effort but it’s worth it.

I have done the same among my small group of friends. It is a great feeling to be able to contribute our grain of sand to those in need.

Bryan Perera: We run a shelter in Kajang, officially known as Rumah Keluarga Kami (RKK), a home for abandoned, disadvantaged, marginalized and abused children and registered with the Department of Social Welfare.

We are ready to admit children immediately, while their parents have room to solve their problems.

At RKK, the provision of education is our primary concern, while at the same time providing a holistic and conducive environment for the child to grow and develop to their full potential.

You can contact RKK at 603-8736 7877 and speak with Madam Nilani. “Save a child” is our guiding principle at RKK.

As: @Bryan Perera, may God bless you and everyone else in your humanitarian efforts to help those in need.

Head hunter: What happened to Malaysia, a once prosperous country envied by its neighbors and highly respected internationally?

We are now earning a reputation as a nation with deep-seated racial prejudice, institutionalized corruption, and a safe haven for terrorists.

LimeHorse5802: When whenever such sad stories come up, one wonders where the politicians and national / state welfare units are.

Instead, the police called an independent philanthropist for help. Or is it another indicator of a failed state that no longer cares for the poor and the unfortunate?
