PUTRAJAYA: After fulfilling the conditions stipulated in your registration application, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air says that there should be no further delays with the Registrar of Companies (RoS).

Its Acting Chairman, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, said the party had consulted with RoS to find out what was needed to approve its application after its first attempt was rejected.

“Our request had been sent to the policy division of the Interior Ministry, which had asked us to amend three elements of our proposed constitution.

“That has been done and we have resubmitted the documents,” he said at a video press conference on Monday (February 15).

“With the conditions met, Pejuang’s registration process should not be delayed,” he said.

The RoS, in a letter dated January 6, had informed Pejuang that his application to be registered as a political party had been rejected.

Then, Pejuang submitted an appeal letter on January 8.

When asked if Pejuang has an alternative plan if he cannot register in time for the general election, Mukhriz said he has other options.

“I cannot reveal it yet, but let’s say we do not intend to enter the elections as independents. There must be a symbol (with which voters can identify the party), ”he said.

In another matter, Mukhriz said that the independent committee that will advise Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the state of emergency should only recommend ending the emergency if it is fully convinced that Covid-19 “is no longer a threat.”

“We do not want the Emergency to be lifted just so that elections can be held for political continuity and survival.

“The (committee) members must be truly convinced that the pandemic is under control and make appropriate recommendations based on information, facts and figures,” he said.

A 19-member committee, led by former Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria, has been appointed to the independent special committee.

Three opposition legislators, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (Kulim-Bandar Baharu), Anthony Loke (Seremban) and Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kuala Selangor), are also on the committee.

The independent special committee was established under Section 2 of the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021 to advise Yang di-Pertuan Agong on how long the state of emergency is needed.

On January 12, the King decreed that an Emergency would be in force until August 1 as a proactive measure to contain the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
