Compounds worth RM1,000 were issued to recover MCO violators, says Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: On Sunday (October 4), compounds worth almost RM1 thousand were issued to violators of the recovery movement control order (MCO).

Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 979 people were detained with 32 people in pre-trial detention, three released on bail, while 944 received compounds of RM 1,000 for various recovery MCO violations.

“Violations committed include nightclub activities (seven), social distancing violations (516), not wearing masks (163) and failing to provide check-in equipment (277),” it said in a statement Monday (5 October).

Meanwhile, he said the police-led enforcement operations working group has conducted 53,266 checks to monitor and enforce the SOP for the recovery MCO.

“A total of 3,522 supermarkets, 4,581 restaurants, 1,430 street vendors, 1,044 factories, as well as 3,416 banks and 566 government offices were reviewed.

“The working group also verified 1,009 land transport terminals, 250 water transport terminals and 111 air terminals.

“These controls were carried out by 2,702 teams that involved 11,572 people,” he said.

Ismail also said that under Ops Benteng, a total of 48 illegal immigrants, two tekong operators and four smugglers were arrested Sunday with seven seized vehicles.

“The police, the Malaysian Border Control Agency and the military set up a total of 101 barricades to stop the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.

On the sanitation operations of public places carried out by the Fire and Rescue Department and local governments, Ismail said that since March 30, 10,172 operations have been carried out in 135 areas.

He added that 13,073 premises of 2,716 business centers, 5,778 government buildings, 1,601 homes, 2,624 public squares and 354 supermarkets were cleaned up.

He said 13 sanitation operations were carried out on Sunday in five states, Kedah (four), Penang (four), Sabah (three), Sarawak (one) and Terengganu (one).

On the mandatory quarantine, Ismail said 38,321 people had returned to Malaysia between July 24 and October 4.

“All of them have been sent to 77 hotels, civil training institutes and private learning institutes for quarantine in places like Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.

“A total of 8,698 people are currently in quarantine, 106 were sent to the hospital for treatment, while 29,517 people were discharged and allowed to return to their homes.

“These people came from 33 countries, including the United States, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Laos, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, Korea. South., Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, Holland, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia and New Zealand ”, he said.

Ismail said compliance staff from the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs on Sunday conducted checks on 665 business establishments involved in 12 types of supply of essential items.

“The 665 installations included 474 retailers, 162 wholesalers, and 29 manufacturers.

“They found that the supply of essential items was sufficient and easy to obtain,” he said.

It said enforcement personnel also verified 1,052 installations, of which seven were warned for not complying with standard operating procedure.
