KLANG: The Selangor state government has transmitted all the necessary information and comments on the impending conditional movement control order (MCO) in Klang to the federal government.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Photo) It said in a statement that the findings and comments had been relayed to the special virtual meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) with the Prime Minister at 11 am on Thursday (October 8).
He said the comments were obtained from various agencies during the Klang district MCO conditional coordination meeting, chaired by Secretary of State Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya, on his behalf, on Thursday.
He also said that the NSC will be the one to announce the details of the Klang conditional CMCO in order to maintain the coordination and uniformity of the information disseminated.
“The state government will cooperate with all agencies to ensure that the well-being of the people is looked after,” he said.
Amirudin also said that the state will also continue to test for Covid-19 in red zones as a preventive measure to curb the pandemic.
Meanwhile, former Selangor senior fellow Datuk Teng Chang Khim criticized the federal government for allegedly announcing the conditional MCO without consulting the state government and without outlining important information such as identifying the affected areas.
He said in a Facebook post that the Selangor government had acted swiftly following the announcement of the conditional MCO by calling for a statewide NSC meeting to work out the details of the conditional MCO.
However, the planned state meeting was interrupted when the prime minister called a meeting of the NSC that required the attendance of all kissing mentris and senior ministers.
“This (the meeting) has disrupted the state government’s plan to convene the statewide NSC meeting to resolve all foreseeable issues stemming from the conditional MCO,” Teng said.
He added that if not enough details were obtained at the federal NSC meeting, the relevant information will be discussed at the state level.
