Colin George Harvey, former CEO of 7-Eleven Malaysia, dies

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd (SEM) said today that the adviser to the operator of the convenience store chain, Colin George Harvey, passed away yesterday due to complications from a recent illness.

In a statement today, SEM said that Harvey was SEM’s chief executive officer (CEO) from July 2018 to November 2020 prior to his current appointment as a group advisor.

SEM President Tan Sri Abdull Hamid Embong said in the statement: “We are very saddened by the passing of Colin Harvey, and on behalf of our board of directors, management team and employees, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Colin.

“We are sorry for his loss and he has our deepest appreciation for his dedication and contribution to the group over the years.” Abdull Hamid said.

According to SEM presentations in Bursa Malaysia on October 30, 2020, British citizen Harvey, 50, resigned on December 1 as CEO and CEO of SEM for health reasons.

Harvey was jointly succeeded by Wong Wai Keong and Tan U-Ming.

According to SEM’s filings, Wong and Tan were named co-CEO as of December 1.

On Friday, the SEM share price closed unchanged at RM1.33, with a market value of around RM1.5 billion.

The stock saw 1.64 million shares traded.
