CMCO only in Klang mukim, Port Klang to operate as usual

KUALA LUMPUR: The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Klang, Selangor, which will take effect from midnight tonight, involves only areas in Klang mukim (sub-district), said Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri yaakob (pix).

He said the federal and Selangor governments were still working on the areas and localities the order would cover and would make an announcement once the details were finalized.

Ismail Sabri said that it had also been agreed that Port Klang would operate as usual and that economic activities could operate according to stipulated hours.

“Wholesale markets will operate from 4 am to 2 pm, farmers markets from 6 am to 12 pm and normal markets will operate from 6 am to 2 pm, while night markets are not allowed.

“Restaurants, food stalls and food stores may open, but are limited from 6 am to 10 pm and only for drive-thru, delivery and takeout,” he said at a virtual press conference broadcast live from his residence. via the Ministry of Defense Facebook page today.

Ismail Sabri said that soon the Ministry of Industry and International Trade will publish the detailed list of allowed and prohibited economic activities.

He added that public transportation such as buses, taxis and electronic call vehicles can only operate from 6 am to midnight.

Yesterday, the government announced the application of CMCO in the red zones, namely Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran in Sabah and Klang, Selangor starting on October 9, following the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the areas.

Meanwhile, banks and ATMs in the red zones and CMCO areas would operate as usual.

At the Recovery MCO’s Enforcement Operations Task Force, he said police had arrested 420 people yesterday for various MCO rape offenses.

“Of the total, 380 people have received compounds, 39 arrested and one released on bail.

“For Ops Benteng, a total of 31 illegal immigrants and a captain and smuggler were arrested yesterday and 11 ground vehicles were also seized,” Ismail Sabri said.

On top of that, the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission have opened some 270 investigative documents related to fake news about Covid-19.

Ismail Sabri said that of the total, 133 were still under investigation, 35 defendants in court, 19 pleaded guilty and 12 received a warning notice. – Called
