KUCHING: A partial closure of the Kuching district under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) will be enforced for 14 days from November 9 to November 22, the chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said today, Douglas Uggah Embas.

The decision comes in the wake of daily increases in Covid-19 cases, he said.

A partial closure for six peninsula states was also announced from November 9 to December 6, and the CMCO in the Klang Valley and Sabah was extended, also until December 6.

Uggah said the decision was made after assessing the situation and taking into account the number of cases registered in the district in the past 14 days.

“Inter-district travel is allowed within the state, except to enter and exit the Kuching district. SOPs will be issued on November 8.

“Interstate travel from the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan is not allowed, except those with permission from the police,” he said in the daily Covid-19 briefing.
