KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The deadline for new registrations or updates for Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) has been extended from February 15 to 25, says Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
He said this was to ensure that only those eligible received the BPR, as well as to account for the current motion control order (MCO) implemented in most of the country.
Those who need to make new applications are those who have never received the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) 2020 or the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) B40 and whose household income is RM5,000 or less per month.
“This includes newly vulnerable groups who are eligible to apply following a change in their income status due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“With the new registrations / updates process in place, some of those whose applications were not approved and never received the BPR still have the opportunity to submit their applications for verification again,” it said in a statement on Sunday (February 14).
Previously successful BSH 2020 and BPN B40 recipients do not need to re-register or update if there are no changes to their information.
Tengku Zafrul said that the first phase of the BPR payment would be accelerated until the end of this month, as announced in the Malaysia (Permai) Rakyat and Economic Protection Assistance Package on January 18, while the payment of the phase two takes place in early May. .
So far, the Internal Revenue Board (LHDN) has received almost 550,000 new applications that must be verified and verified.
The process also involves 25 government agencies, including the Department of National Registry and LHDN, to ensure that only those eligible are approved to receive the BPR.
