“Under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) Regulations of 2005, waste such as plastic disposal materials generated in government-published health facilities and Covid-19 quarantine centers, are classified as scheduled waste under the SW code 404, which are pathogenic waste, clinical waste, or quarantined materials

“Clinical waste must be disposed of in the stipulated facilities, licensed by the Department of the Environment,” he said today during the minister’s question time in Dewan Rakyat.

Tuan Ibrahim was responding to a question from Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (BN-Machang) who wanted to know if KASA planned to establish special plants for clinical waste in each state, due to the increase in waste since March, in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, the minister said, waste such as disposal plastics used by the public in premises such as wet markets, supermarkets, offices, factories and so on, which were used for self-protection against Covid-19 infection, were classified as waste. domestic.
