KUALA LUMPUR: Activities in churches in the Federal Territory in conjunction with the celebration of Christmas are allowed according to the attendance limit established by the National Security Council (MKN), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Federal Territories.

The Kuala Lumpur Department of National Unity and Integration, in a statement, said that the permit is in line with the SOPs and protocols on the holding issued by MKN for the period during the Recovery Motion Control Order (RMCO) and the Conditional Motion Control Order (CMCO).

Attendance at prayers is allowed up to a third of the capacity of houses of worship or no more than 30 people per session, he said.

Last Friday, Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that open houses and Christmas carols along with Christmas celebrations are not allowed across the country.

However, those who celebrate the occasion can hold prayer ceremonies on December 24 and 25 in the areas under RMCO and CMCO.

These are among the SOPs for the festival which also stipulate that visiting each other’s homes is only allowed on the first day (December 25) in the areas where the RMCO and CMCO apply.
