PETALING JAYA: The increase in new Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley and Seremban is cause for concern, says Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“Our concern at the moment is that in Klang Valley and Negri Sembilan, there is an increase in cases, even more than in Sabah.

“So we have to strengthen active case detection. What worries us is the high population density and the movement of people, ”said the director general of Health at a press conference on Thursday (November 12).

He added that it was more difficult to monitor the movement of people in the Klang Valley, which has a population of around six million.

Dr. Noor Hisham said the ministry was constantly looking for ways to improve its contact tracing methods.

Citing one example, he said that those who returned to Kelantan from the Klang Valley with a permit must wear bracelets to identify themselves.

“The use of the wristband is mandatory. The orange band is intended for those who must undergo a 14-day home quarantine, while the green band is for those who travel to attend to business and meeting matters.

“They are not allowed to travel anywhere else,” he said.

Sabah saw 319 new infections, while Negri Sembilan and Klang Valley each saw 240 new cases and 224 new cases respectively.

When combined, Klang Valley and Seremban have a total of 464 cases as of Thursday, which beats Sabah’s daily count of 319.
