PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territories Ministry has ordered all liquor-serving pubs and food establishments closed during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

His minister Annuar Musa said he had received complaints from the public that the operators were not practicing social distancing rules within their facilities.

“A friend of mine, who is not a Muslim, said that the customers were sitting and hanging out like on normal days in the store.

“The ministry and agencies under the state safety working committee have decided to put liquor-serving pubs and food stores on the ‘negative list’, meaning they cannot operate during the CMCO period,” he said today in his Facebook video.

Many companies, including pubs, started operating again yesterday when the CMCO went into effect. They had been closed since the closure began on March 18.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the Kuala Lumpur City Council’s (DBKL) compliance department yesterday inspected 91 locations around the city and found that some of them did not apply social distancing rules.

“There were 48 stores that did not put marks on the floor to inform their clients to stop one meter from each other. DBKL also found 28 locations that did not provide hand sanitizer for customers, ”he said.

He reminded all business operators to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by providing hand sanitizer and implementing social distancing rules within their facilities.

He said that the SOPs had the force of law since they were drafted based on the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases.

“Those who do not comply with the SOP will receive compound notices or will be fined in court,” Annuar said.
